Privacy Policy

This policy describes the limited information New York City Residents Directory handles, why it is used, and the choices available to visitors. This private reference points to public records and directory collections in New York City. It does not require an account or keep a personal directory record about you.

Information You Submit

A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the third-party provider that produces those results. Our servers do not retain a copy of the search. When you contact us, we receive the contents of your message and use them to respond.

Information Collected Automatically

Hosting systems create routine logs that can include an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps. We review that data in aggregate to maintain the service and understand which reference pages are used. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics and, when applicable, advertising measurement.

How We Use Information

Information is used to operate the site, address technical issues, measure traffic, and improve the reference pages. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.

External Websites

Links may lead to New York City property and court portals, county-clerk routes, library collections, archives, or third-party search tools. Each destination controls information submitted there under its own privacy terms. That includes sponsored results supplied by a third-party company.

Who Can Receive Information

Hosting and support providers process server logs for us. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. We disclose information when valid legal process requires disclosure, and not otherwise.

Security and Retention

The site uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the purposes described here. Because there are no accounts, this site does not maintain a visitor password or account profile that could be exposed.

Visitors Under 18

This reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor sent us information, contact us so it can be deleted.

Your Information Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information a website keeps about you. Because we retain very little, we can generally review the contact mailbox and available server logs, then remove applicable information. Send a request through the Contact page. Public records held by New York State, New York City, or a county office are outside our control. For agency records, New York’s Freedom of Information Law is Public Officers Law Article 6, §§84–90; FOIL requests go to the custodian, may be subject to privacy redactions, and do not apply to the judiciary.

Policy Changes

Any revision to this policy will appear here. Continued use after a revision signifies acceptance of the updated policy.
